Olivier Giroud headed Lille into an early lead away to Red Star Belgrade in the Europa League, levelling the tie after a 0-1 first-leg deficit.

The France record scorer met Benjamin André’s cross with a precise header to break the deadlock. It was his ninth goal of the season, and his fourth in this competition. L'Équipe notes his recent resurgence.

France’s all-time leading scorer, Giroud is 39 and has 57 goals in 137 caps.

He is also the oldest French goalscorer in European club competition since 25 September, when he found the net against Brann Bergen in a 2-1 result.

The finish underlined his momentum this season. His ninth of the campaign, and fourth in the Europa League, is shown in the video.
