Olivier Giroud could make his LAFC debut during Leagues Cup 2024 after the French striker was included on the team's roster for the tournament.
Giroud signed with the Major League Soccer team on May 14 as a Designated Player through 2025 with an option for 2026. The French international was a free agent this summer after his contract with AC Milan expired. Giroud is expected to join up with LAFC in August after competing with France in the Euros.
Giroud is reunited with longtime international teammate Hugo Lloris in Los Angeles. The striker is France's all-time top scorer with 57 goals. Together, the two won the 2018 World Cup, but this is the first time the two will play for the same club team.

Last year, all eyes were on Leagues Cup with Inter Miami's signing of Lionel Messi. This year, all eyes are on LAFC who are just two points off the top of MLS' Western Conference. The Black and Gold trail LA Galaxy by two points, but have two games in hand over their rival.
LAFC under Steve Cherundolo are a favorite to go far in this tournament lead by Denis Bouanga and Mateusz Bogusz in attack. Adding a top target man striker who can hold up the ball, be dominant in the air and a clinical poacher will bring a new dimension to the attack.
Giroud's exact debut remains up in the air and likely contingent on how far LAFC go in Leagues Cup. The Black and Gold play Club Tijuana and Vancouver Whitecaps FC in the group stage. If they go out early, they wouldn't return to MLS action until Aug. 24 against Vancouver once again.
