Olivier Létang has been suspended until 31 March following a ruling on Wednesday evening. The league’s disciplinary commission said in a statement that, until 15 February 2026 inclusive, the suspension also bars him from the players’ dressing rooms, the pitch, the tunnel and all connecting corridors before, during and after matches. The sanction takes effect from Tuesday 20 January.

During Lille’s 0-2 defeat to Rennes on 3 January, Alexsandro was sent off in the 13th minute for denying a clear chance. At half-time, Létang confronted referee Eric Wattellier in the tunnel, saying he knew what he had done and calling it a disgrace and a scandal.

Létang was already under a suspended two-match ban for remarks after Lille-OL, a 1-2 defeat on 28 September, which had also brought a one-match firm suspension. He had criticised refereeing almost every weekend and contrasted calls for cameras in dressing rooms and buses with what happens on the pitch.

Head coach Bruno Genesio received a one-match suspension and a further match with a suspended ban from the touchline, the referees’ dressing room and all official functions. He had strongly criticised the referee during the same half-time and skipped the post-match press conference.

Lille were also fined 15,000 euros after homophobic and insulting chants by some supporters during the match against Rennes.
