Olympiakos are seeking further attacking cover after sealing André Luiz, with Clayton now on their shortlist this winter. According to Glorioso 1904, the Greek side are assessing options following Roman Yaremchuk’s departure, the Ukrainian having previously played for Benfica.
Clayton, in strong form for Rio Ave, had been considered by Benfica as a possible addition, though a move never materialised. The Brazilian forward is being weighed up to bolster the front line.
Rio Ave’s number nine, among the leading scorers in Liga Portugal Betclic, is preparing to head to Greece, which would leave Sotiris Silaidopoulos without a penalty-box finisher. Evangelos Marinakis is driving these moves.
André Luiz was very close to joining on Wednesday, 28 January, and confirmation followed on Thursday, 29 January, when Rio Ave posted on X to wish the 23-year-old well.
This season Clayton, valued at 8 million euros, has featured in 18 matches for Rio Ave, all in Liga Portugal Betclic. Across 1,509 minutes, the 27-year-old has 10 goals and five assists.
