Amine Gouiri
Algerian international Amine Gouiri has stepped up in recent hours to defend Gabonese striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Finally back with OM after months sidelined due to a shoulder injury, Amine Gouiri spoke out this Monday. Watching from the bench, the Algerian saw Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang—who had replaced him—miss the chance to make it 3-1, which instead turned into a 2-2 draw against PSG. Criticized for his handling of that crucial moment, Aubameyang can count on the support of his attacking teammate.
"That last action was tricky. If he scores, the match is done and dusted, everything’s settled. Unfortunately, they recovered the ball and scored. It’s not his fault because if he puts it away, it’s over. He feels hurt because we were a minute away from the trophy—that’s football," Gouiri said at the press conference on the eve of the Coupe de France round of 32 clash against Bayeux. "I’m really happy to play alongside him. I’m learning a lot from him. We can play together. He gives me a lot of advice," he added.
