OM owner Frank McCourt added the well connected English company Unique Sports Group in July to reinforce the club’s player-sales operation.

According to L'Équipe, the move aims to facilitate outgoing transfers, ease the burden on the shareholder and send a positive signal.

In spring, former sporting director Medhi Benatia and his successor, Grégory Lorenzi, had already been working on exits, as they did in the previous two summers.

In 2024, before any signings, OM sold Iliman Ndiaye to Everton for €18.5m, plus bonuses and a percentage on any future profit.

In June 2025, they moved quicker still, with Luis Henrique joining Inter Milan for €23m plus bonuses, allowing OM to book the deal in the 2024-2025 financial year, which was heavily in deficit.
