Omar Marmoush explains what Guardiola asked from him after Wolves goal
Omar Marmoush said he happy to help Manchester City after scoring in 2-0 Premier League win over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush expressed his joy after playing key role in Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in matchday 22 of the Premier League.
The Egyptian international marked the win with important goal helping City secure three point at the Etihad Stadium as they continue their push in the league standings.
Marmoush returned to club action after spending recent weeks with Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 in Morocco.
City coach Pep Guardiola made notable decision by starting Marmoush as the central striker leaving Erling Haaland on the bench at kick off.
Marmoush rewarded Guardiola’s confidence with impressive performance. In addition to scoring, he was close to adding another goal after one effort struck the crossbar.
Speaking to BBC Sport Marmoush praised the team’s fighting spirit and explained what Guardiola demanded from the players.
“We fought until the end and showed strong spirit from the start” he said. “Pep wanted us to give everything and fight for every ball”
The former Eintracht Frankfurt attacker also spoke about the importance of scoring his first goal for City since August.
“It’s important to score and help the team” Marmoush added. “I’m very happy to be back after AFCON and help my side. Matheus Nunes gave great pass and I’m happy with the goal and the three point”
Marmoush ended his comments by stressing that the squad must recover quickly and stay focused.
“We will try to get back physically and mentally, then we will continue our journey” he said.
His return offers Guardiola another attacking option as City face busy period in domestic & European competitions.
