Manchester City have been handed a massive injury boost as Omar Marmoush closes in on a return to action.

Marmoush hasn’t played for Man City since the 2-1 defeat to Brighton at the end of August.

The forward suffered an injury while on international duty with Egypt last month, causing him to miss seven club games across all competitions - including the Manchester derby triumph and draw against Arsenal.

It was later confirmed that Marmoush had suffered a knee ligament bruise and images circulated soon after of the 26-year-old wearing a knee brace and using crutches.

Initially, Pep Guardiola had hoped to have Marmoush available for selection before the October international break.

Speaking ahead of the 3-0 win over Manchester United, the Spaniard said of Marmoush: "A few weeks, I think, before the next international break he will be ready."

The Egyptian would end up sitting out Man City’s 1-0 win over Brentford and also missed his national team’s two World Cup qualifiers against Djibouti and Guinea-Bissau over the past week.

He was, however, present for the World Cup qualification celebrations on Sunday with footage emerging of him on the pitch to receive a warm reception from the Egypt supporters.

What was noticeable about the footage is Marmoush was moving around without crutches which indicates his knee is in a much better place compared to a month ago.

It remains to be seen if Marmoush will be involved against Everton on Saturday as Man City look to move level on points with leaders Arsenal - albeit potentially for a couple of hours.

Guardiola will face the media later this week and is sure to deliver a fresh update on the £59million January signing from Eintracht Frankfurt.
