BuLi News reports that Omar Megeed has joined Greuther Fürth on a free transfer, signing a two-year deal with an option of a third. Fürth finished 16th in the second tier last season.

Four years after becoming the youngest player in HSV history, the 20-year-old attacking midfielder moves on. He made his second-tier debut in August 2022 aged 16, coming off the bench in a 2-0 win over Arminia Bielefeld, and featured only once more for the first team.

With HSV now in the Bundesliga, his route to minutes narrowed further. He has instead been a regular for HSV II in the Regionalliga across the past two seasons, making 69 appearances. He has also represented Egypt at youth level.

He left this summer after seven years with HSV. Initially on trial at Fürth, he impressed in friendlies and earned a permanent contract.

Sporting director Daniel Meyer said they view him as a special and versatile player, praising his physicality and intensity, and said the club want to help take him to the next level.

Megeed will wear number 18 and will aim to settle quickly. Fürth have made some astute signings in recent years and were in the Bundesliga as recently as 2022.
