At this point, Barcelona have only made one signing in the summer and it was directed towards reinforcing the left-wing position.
Raphinha’s injuries last season, after all, seriously hurt the team’s attacking potency and the manager relied on Marcus Rashford to provide depth in that department.
The Englishman’s mixed campaign, however, did not generate sufficient consensus to immediately trigger his permanent transfer and the club splashed the cash on his compatriot Anthony Gordon instead.
A few days ago, in fact, it was said that the club had even decided firmly against triggering Rashford’s purchase clause.
As reported by MARCA in a recent update, Rashford has still not lost hope over staying at Barcelona.

The club are reportedly not ruling anything out and are waiting to see how the attacking department shapes up over the coming weeks before taking a decision on his signing.
For his part, Rashford also continues to remain optimistic and hopeful. He is not losing faith after getting positive messages from Hansi Flick and is desperate to stay in Spain and wait for the move even if there is a slight chance.
All eyes, now, are on Deco and Co. to see how they plan out the team’s transfer window in attack and whether they see a need to keep Rashford in the loop.
From the player’s perspective, the ideal outcome would be to close a return to Catalonia, either on a second loan deal or a permanent transfer.

Given how that looks unlikely, however, it is imperative that the player keeps his options open – both in terms of a return to Manchester and a possible move to a new club.
Michael Carrick has not shown any special resistance towards Rashford’s return, and all signs point to him being open to the player staying should no other route emerge. Concurrently, however, he has not pushed for the player’s return either.
In other news, Bayern Munich have had discussions and considered signing the player for next season, but that interest too appears to have faded away in recent hours.
