One month to FIFA Women's Club Championship, Corinthians face US side

In one month, Corinthians Women will return to the field to begin competing in the most important tournament in their history: the FIFA Women's Champions Cup. The competition, which will be held in 2026 in England, will be the first organized by the entity, bringing together the six continental champion clubs in the sport – something that has already happened in men's football since 2000.

The Brabas qualified for the tournament after winning the Copa Libertadores in October, defeating Deportivo Cali from Colombia in the final. Three other teams will travel to London for the tournament: Gotham FC from the USA, CONCACAF champions and Corinthians' opponents in the semifinals; Arsenal from England, representing UEFA and facing AS FAR from Morocco, the CAF champions, in the other bracket.

It’s also worth noting that two other teams have already played in the preliminary rounds of the tournament and were eliminated. The first club to say goodbye to the Champions Cup was Auckland United from New Zealand, representing the OFC, who lost in the first round 1-0 to Wuhan Jianghan from China, the AFC champions. The Chinese team, in turn, were eliminated in the second round after being defeated by AS FAR 2-1.

While waiting to regroup, Corinthians are working behind the scenes to finalize the squad for the 2026 season. Of the 11 players whose contracts run until the 31st, five have already had their departures confirmed: Kemelli, Mariza, Letícia Santos, Paulinha, and Eudimilla. Another five have renewed with the club: Nicole Ramos, Gi Fernandes, Lelê, Erika, and Tamires. The only player whose status has not yet been confirmed is Gabi Zanotti.
