“I am not starting this season as if it’s my last. I want to have fun and help my teammates progress. I’ll make a decision after (the season). I feel even better than in other years,” said Dante (40) in a press conference, attended by Get French Football News in August 2023.
Captain and leader of OGC Nice, Dante now looks like he will extend his professional playing career by a further year, according to L’Équipe. The Brazilian, who turns 41 in October, is in talks with Le Gym over a one-year contract extension. It is the desire of the player, and of the club, that he continues to wear the Nice jersey for one more season before hanging up his boots.
It is even planned that, at the end of next season, Dante will integrate the coaching staff at Nice with the view to becoming a manager. Negotiations between Nice and Dante are ongoing and there is optimism on all sides.
