One ownership move, millions of new followers: Cristiano Ronaldo effect hits Almeria
Almeria’s Instagram following surged after Cristiano Ronaldo bought 25% stake in the Spanish club.
Spanish club Almeria has reached a new milestone in Spanish football after Cristiano Ronaldo captain of Al-Nassr recently joined the club’s ownership group.
According to DAZN Football, Almeria is now among the five most-followed Spanish clubs on Instagram since Ronaldo joined the ownership group.
The club has reached around 3.2 million followers placing it fifth in Spain’s social media ranking. Real Madrid leads the list with about 181 million follower while Barcelona holds second place with 146 million.
Atletico Madrid & Sevilla occupy the third and fourth positions with around 18 million and 3.6 million followers, respectively.
The Portuguese star acquired 25% of Almeria’s shares through his company CR7 Sports Investments becoming part of the club’s ownership alliance.
The move aims to strengthen the club’s sporting ambitions and expand its commercial reach in the coming years.
Despite the online growth, Almeria’s main objective remains on the pitch. The club currently plays in Spain’s second division and hopes to secure promotion back to La Liga next season.
