O’Neill makes ‘world-class’ Camilo Duran claim after Celtic Champions League masterclass | OneFootball

Martin O’Neill has heaped praise on Camilo Duran after the Celtic star produced a stunning Champions League performance against LASK.

The Colombian has made an immediate impact since arriving at Celtic this summer and delivered his biggest performance yet as the Hoops claimed a commanding 3-0 first-leg victory at Celtic Park.

Duran struck twice on the night, including a spectacular volley for Celtic’s second, to leave O’Neill’s side in an excellent position to reach the Champions League league phase.

Chris Sutton was raving about the winger after his first European goal for Celtic, and O’Neill was equally impressed by what he saw.

The Celtic boss believes there was much more to Duran’s display than his two goals, highlighting both his attacking threat and willingness to work defensively.

O’Neill said via TNT: “Well, he’s a brilliant player. He’s an absolutely brilliant footballer.

“You know, we spotted him away back some time ago, and we tried to get him earlier than we did do at the time, but so pleased to see him here. He’s just magnificent.

“I said to him, I’m not saying at this minute he’s a world-class player. What I am saying that that was a world-class performance by him in every sense.

“Not only the goals that he scored, taking people on, but getting back.

“Listen, if I was playing fullback, I’d be delighted to have him in front of me because he’ll be doing my job for me.”
