Only one América player remains at the 2026 World Cup as the round of 16 nears its conclusion. According to Americayya.net, of the four called up, just Alejandro Zendejas is still involved.

Sebastián Cáceres and Brian Rodríguez were the first to depart after Uruguay went out in the group stage. Cáceres played virtually every minute, while Rodríguez totalled 40 minutes.

On Sunday night Mexico were eliminated after a 2-3 defeat to England in a high-intensity contest. Mexico at times looked the better side, but lacked ideas to find an equaliser.

Israel Reyes was América’s only Mexico call-up and, though he featured, he never nailed down a starting place. He began against South Africa, logged 10 minutes versus Korea, started against Czechia, then had 10 minutes versus Ecuador. In the decisive game Javier Aguirre left him out, so he saw no action against England.

Zendejas is the last América player standing, with the United States facing Belgium tonight in the last 16. It is viewed as very unlikely he will play, as he is among the final attacking options. He has managed only 13 minutes at this World Cup.
