Four defendants in Operação Pretoriano, all convicted, have been granted an in person hearing at the Porto Court of Appeal to argue their appeals.

JN reports that the session has been set for 21 January, after judges accepted their request despite opposition from the Public Prosecutor's Office.

Fernando Madureira received a custodial sentence of three years and nine months. He is seeking acquittal or, failing that, a suspended sentence.

The prosecution, in its own appeal, is pursuing a nine-year custodial term for the former Super Dragões leader.

It also argues that Sandra Madureira, Vítor Catão, Hugo Carneiro "Polaco", and Vítor Oliveira pai and Vítor Oliveira filho, who previously received suspended sentences, should serve prison terms.
