Serie A side Como have now rejected Tottenham’s latest offer of over €70 million for attacking midfielder Nico Paz.
This comes after an initial bid was also rejected and it was believed that the €70 million fee could be enough for the Argentine’s sale. Despite Tottenham’s latest bid being over that amount, Como haven’t agreed to a sale and it shows their ambition.
While Real Madrid are obviously involved in the situation and there could well be a verbal agreement between the two clubs over a future move, rejection of that much from an Italian side is unheard of.
Serie A is known to have sold well-known stars for a lesser fee, with Tijjani Reijnders being a key example. That is because of the Italian top-flight’s dire financial situation due multitudes of reasons. A host of major Serie A sides have given in to money, regardless of how much was being offered.
Como have already shown enough ambition to batting away Inter’s approaches to keep Cesc Fabregas and there has been talk of them having rejected major approaches for Assane Diao as well. On top of that, they have spent the highest amount of money in Serie A so far, bringing in players with a high ceiling and those who will offer value in the present too.
Of course, they enjoy the backing of an ownership which is bringing about a fresh approach in Calcio. As much as many turn up their noses against that in Serie A, that is a pretty hypocritical stance. After all, any other Italian side will sell a player of Nico Paz’s value for less than what Tottenham offered because they need that money.
Not Como, though. And this is good news for Serie A. Fabregas’ side are not messing around and especially after their win over Lazio, it is clear that they have massive ambitions.
