Sydie Peck has quietly developed into one of Sheffield United’s most consistently impressive performers over the past couple of months.

The 21-year-old midfielder has been a central figure for the Blades throughout the 2025/26 Championship season, and his recent run of form suggests he’s hitting his stride at the perfect time at the business end of the season.

Across the 2025/26 league campaign, Peck’s statistical output highlights his emergence as a well-rounded midfielder:

Goals and Assists: He’s contributed to four goals and three assists, impressive numbers for a young midfielder, and an improving attacking threat compared to last season’s goal contribution stats (no goals and two assists).

Passing: Peck is completing just under 80% of his passes this term, and while that’s not particularly great, he is attempting slightly more riskier passes than most midfielders in the division.

Defensive Work: His tackles, interceptions, and duels won show a player comfortable in gruelling battles. He is averaging over three tackles and interceptions per game. To add, he’s averaging over a 56% duel success rate, and five ball recoveries per game.

These figures highlight a young midfielder who isn’t just doing the basics but also adding meaningful contributions at both ends of the pitch, and is maturing into a top quality Championship player in front of our eyes.

Could Peck Earn A Premier League Move?

Peck’s style is highly intelligent on the ball and has great adaptability. What sets him apart is his work rate and awareness: making tackles, winning duels, and recycling possession efficiently. His numbers this term as opposed to last season suggest a growing comfort in dictating tempo, rather than just reacting to it. As he gains more confidence, his influence in the final third and on the game in general is likely to improve further.

Of course, the only downside to this is that the former Arsenal player is likely putting himself firmly in the shop window. If Sheffield United fail to secure promotion this season, a summer move to the Premier League could be realistic for Peck.

In the modern game, midfielders with his energy, tactical discipline, and growing attacking impact could transition well into the top flight. There’s been rumours swirling over the last 12 months linking Peck to Brentford, and given that Brentford boss Keith Andrews had a spell on United’s coaching staff, the Irishman will be aware of Peck’s growing capabilities.
