Opposition councillors urge José Roberto Lamacchia to leave Palmeiras | OneFootball

A Palmeiras opposition group has called for José Roberto Lamacchia to quit the club’s council, citing possible conflicts of interest linked to his family’s move to buy Vasco’s SAF.

According to Globo.com, Ocupa Palestra set out demands should the transaction be confirmed, chief among them Lamacchia’s removal.

The stance came hours after Almirante Participações, owned by his son Marcos Lamacchia, the stepson of club president Leila Pereira, won the auction to acquire Vasco’s SAF as the only bidder.

The councillors said they had formally asked Palmeiras’ internal bodies about potential conflicts the deal could create, but said their requests for clarification were refused.

Marcos Lamacchia’s bid still requires approval from Vasco’s Deliberative Council and an Extraordinary General Assembly.

The negotiation is also being examined by Anresf, which is assessing whether selling the SAF to a businessman linked to another club constitutes a conflict of ownership.

Seeking safeguards for Palmeiras, the group proposed ending any direct or indirect benefits to rivals and strengthening institutional protections, alongside Lamacchia’s departure.

In June, José Roberto Lamacchia said he was acting as guarantor for his son’s financing and that they would only proceed if Pedrinho were president, adding he was guaranteeing R$ two billion while insisting his son is independent.
