Southampton have already bid farewell to the midfielder via their official channels, with his contract due to expire on 30 June. He was a familiar figure at St Mary's in recent seasons.

The decision was shaped in part by endorsements from Yoshida, his former Southampton team-mate, who painted a positive picture of the country and its league.
