MIAMI – The Leagues Cup 2025 continued with six matchups on Saturday as part of Phase One of the Concacaf-sanctioned competition between MLS and Liga MX clubs, as they battle for the crown and three spots in the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup.

The day presented three wins for MLS sides as well as for Liga MX clubs. Three encounters were decided by penalty shootouts, including Atlético de San Luis’ first Leagues Cup victory.

Orlando City SC 3-1 Atlas FC

Orlando City SC collected a 3-1 win over Atlas FC at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Iván Angulo opened the scoring in the 9’ to hand Orlando the lead with a right-footed curler from the top of the box.

Matías Cóccaro leveled for Atlas in the 50’, but Martín Ojeda reestablished Orlando’s lead for the hosts in the 57’.

Marco Pašalić rounded out the win for Orlando in the 90+13’ with a powerful left-footed hit from inside the box.

Inter Miami CF 2 (5)-(4) 1 Club Necaxa

Inter Miami CF drew 2-2 against Club Necaxa, with the South Florida side winning the additional point in PKs, Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.

Telasco Segovia gave the hosts the lead in the 12’ with a curler to the top-right corner. The assist on the play marked the first for Rodrigo De Paul since joining Inter Miami.

Tomás Badaloni tied the match in the 33’ before Ricardo Monreal turned the scoring around for Atlas in the 81’.

Jordi Alba equalized for Inter Miami in the 90+2’ to send the match to penalties, heading home a free-kick delivery from De Paul.

Inter Miami won 5-4 in the shootout to take two points and improve to five total.

Pumas UNAM 3-2 Atlanta United FC

Pumas UNAM was victorious 3-2 against Atlanta United at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, USA.

Alvaro Angulo converted from the penalty spot in the 23’ to give Pumas the lead.

Atlanta United equalized through an own goal from Pumas goalkeeper Keylor Navas in the 35’. Emmanuel Late Lath handed the MLS club the lead in the 43’.

The 2024 Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year Award winner Adalberto Carrasquilla bagged a brace with goals in the 62’ and 89’ to secure the comeback and the win for Pumas.

Club América 3 (8)-(7) 3 Minnesota United FC

Club América and Minnesota United FC tied 3-3 in a thriller, with the Liga MX giants winning the extra point in PKs, at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

Tani Oluwaseyi scored the go-ahead goal for Minnesota in the 16’.

América tied the match in the 27’ through an own goal from Michael Boxall, but Bongokuhle Hlongwane struck in the 31’ to restore the lead for the MLS club.

The second half saw presented a similar scenario, with Raúl Zúñiga leveling the scoring for América in the 53’. Carlos Harvey put Minnesota back in the lead in the 65’.

Sebastián Cáceres scored the equalizer in the 90’ to send the match to penalties.

América claimed the additional point in a dramatic 8-7 win on penalties.

Real Salt Lake 2 (1)-(4) 2 Atlético de San Luis

Real Salt Lake and Atlético de San Luis played out a 2-2 draw, with the Mexican side claiming the additional point in penalties, at America First Field in Sandy, Utah, USA.

Braian Ojeda placed RSL in the lead in the 9’ with a goal from inside the box on a corner kick opportunity.

João Pedro tied the game for Atlético de San Luis in the 24’. Miguel García gave the visitors the lead in the 82’.

Ojeda sealed his brace in the 88’ to send the match to penalties. The Potosinos ultimately prevailed 4-1 in the penalty shootout.

Portland Timbers 1-0 Club Querétaro

The last fixture of the day saw Portland Timbers win 1-nil against Club Querétaro at Providence Park in Portland, Oregon, USA.

Cristhian Paredes struck from close range in the 36’ for what turned out to be the winner for Portland.
