Gallese and the new Orlando City SC defense shut the net to the Red Bulls. However, New York netminder Carlos Miguel Coronel had something to say about the match, as well.
Coronel and his backline took care of the Lions’ 14 shots and saved the four that were on target. For most of the match, the Red Bulls didn’t get any of their shots on goal. That changed after the 56th minute, but not much.
The pivotal minute came when Orlando defender Rodrigo Schlegel fouled forward Eric Maxim Choupo-Mouting. Before the referee announced the result, the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) was consulted. The question was whether the incident was a straight red card to Schlegel.
The straight red was nixed, but the consensus was to book Schlegel. As the second yellow card for this match, City went down a player.

The Red Bulls were so far off the beam this match that they didn’t get a shot on target until after getting their player advantage.
That didn’t happen until the 76th minute when midfielder Wikelman Carmona took a left-footed shot from the center of the box. That was the team’s only shot on goal for the match. They took 10 total shots.
But the seven clearances the Red Bulls got matched with Coronel’s saves were enough to keep the Lions from scoring.
From the start of the 2025 season, Orlando City has scored consistently but conceded goals on defense. So, the team has drilled on defense and improved their efforts to stop their opponents’ attacks.
They left the pitch against the New York Red Bulls with a point on their 0-0 draw. They’ve got the defense. Now they have to get their scoring back.
