Orlando City SC have signed winger Ivan Angulo on a year-long loan from Brazil Serie A side Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras.
He joins through the 2023 Summer, with an option to extend an additional six months.
“Ivan is a talented and creative winger that has international experience going to the FIFA U-20 World Cup for Colombia and has played in the first division in Portugal,” said Orlando City EVP of soccer operations and general manager Luiz Muzzi in a release.
“We believe his ability to take players one-on-one and the danger he creates down the flanks are going to be great assets for us as we push towards the end of this season.”
Angulo kicked off his career in Columbia with Envigado FC, before joining Palmeiras on a season-long loan and then permanently in 2020. He temporarily departs the Brazilian side with four goals and five assists in 65 first-team appearances.
He now stands as Orlando’s second signing of the Secondary Transfer Window, joining USMNT forward Nicholas Gioacchini on the roster. Their arrival gives head coach Oscar Pareja more options up top, with Ercan Kara, Facundo Torres and Alexandre Pato also available.
The reinforcements come as a great time for Orlando City, as they fight to break into the top four of the Eastern Conference. They currently sit in fifth with 30 points in 22 games and a record of 8W-8L-4D, just two wins away from overtaking CF Montreal.
