Ornstein confirms Arsenal contact club over potential signing | OneFootball

Arsenal have made contact with Wolverhampton Wanderers over the potential signing of Dan Bentley, according to a report.

David Ornstein reports for The Athletic that Arsenal have made contact with Wolverhampton Wanderers to express their interest in signing goalkeeper Dan Bentley.

Ornstein writes that Arsenal view Bentley as a potential back-up option, with David Raya currently first choice and Aaron Ramsdale and Karl Hein both also in the squad for now.

Yet Wolves don’t want to sell unless they receive a ‘suitable’ offer that would allow them to reinvest, with Bentley currently a valued member of their squad making a strong impression on and off the pitch.

Alan Nixon had broken the news of Arsenal’s interest in Bentley earlier this week, reporting that the player could be keen on the move even as a third-choice option for Arsenal.

The signing of Bentley has a few potential benefits. For a start, he has Premier League experience.

Though he played as a backup at Wolves this season, he did feature five times, including in a game against Arsenal.

On top of that, Bentley is homegrown, having completed his footballing education with Arsenal themselves.

The 30-year-old played for Arsenal as a youth player between 2001 and 2008, before moving on to progress into senior football with Southend United.

After that, Bentley played for then-Championship sides Brentford and Bristol City, before eventually making the step back up to the Premier League in 2023 by joining Wolves.

Whether he’s set to return to the club of his youth now depends on how any potential transfer talks pan out.
