Osasuna chief sends message to Athletic Club over Jesús Areso signing | OneFootball

Osasuna sporting director Braulio Vázquez has on Sunday spoken out on the alleged interest of Athletic Club in the signature of Jesús Areso.

The name of defender Areso has long proven a prominent one in the headlines in Bilbao.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the brass at Athletic Club have earmarked the 25-year-old as a leading transfer target for the summer.

Amid an ongoing search for long-term reinforcements at right-back, Areso, who spent time developing on the books of Athletic early in his career, is considered the ideal addition.

Safe to say, however, that Osasuna have no intention of making it easy for their La Liga rivals to find a deal for a key member of the club’s backline.

Drawn on Athletic’s alleged interest in Areso by DAZN (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) on Sunday, the aforementioned Braulio Vázquez was adamant that:

“I know he left there and then we signed him on a free transfer. But if anyone wants him, they should pay the release clause.”
