With virtually no incursions into the opposition box, the first 45 minutes ended goalless.

After the restart the contest opened up, Valencia looked the more comfortable and they broke the deadlock in the 64th minute when Herrera fouled Sadiq and Ramazani converted from the spot.

Osasuna tried to rally but could not level, the points stayed in Valencia.

Herrera had little to do before giving away the decisive penalty. Rosier was booked early, which limited him, and he offered little going forward. Catena was assured and alert, while Herrando was willing yet slow and made errors.

Javi Galán anticipated well and added depth. Torró screened effectively in midfield and Moncayola tried to build play and cover ground. Rubén García, used as a second striker, worked but looked less comfortable than in his usual role.

Víctor Muñoz was effective on the right and, as ever, brought pace. Moro produced a few neat passes. Budimir toiled and positioned himself well in the box without success.

From the bench, Raúl went in search of a goal. Juan Cruz was steady, Barja injected life from wide areas, and Moi Gómez made little impact.
