Osasuna have parted company with Alessio Lisci after a late-season collapse, activating a clause to end his deal despite two years remaining. Sporting director Braulio Vázquez now leads the rebuild.
The rojillos flirted with Europe before five successive LaLiga defeats, their entertaining, wing-driven game fading. Injuries and dips, notably Víctor Muñoz, Sergio Herrera and Rubén García, fuelled unrest that saw sections of supporters demand change.
According to Superdeporte, appointing a head coach in the next two months is the priority, with all planning aligned between the bench and recruitment. Likely departures of Boyomo and Víctor Muñoz, plus Galán’s non-renewal, also shape decisions.
Imanol Alguacil stands out. Close to turning 55, the Orio-born coach is unattached after a brief, unsuccessful spell at Al-Shabab that ended in February. His Real Sociedad tenure brought a Copa del Rey and a hallmark blend of Zubieta graduates with seasoned pros.
Such a profile suits Osasuna’s Tajonar academy, where promoting from the B team is seen as strengthening belief in the project.
Jagoba Arrasate is also under consideration. He led Osasuna to promotion and into the Conference League, leaving El Sadar after six seasons with a strong standing among part of the fanbase. He is currently out of work after being dismissed by Mallorca, who improved after his exit but were relegated on the final day.
