Arsene Wenger is the most important single figure in Arsenal's modern history, having managed the club for a staggering 1,235 games over near-22 years from 1996 to 2018.

On this day seven years ago, he bowed out, and received the adulation he deserved.

Wenger is the most successful manager in the club's long and glorious history, winning three Premier League titles and seven FA Cups with the Gunners, and famously going unbeaten in the 2003/04 league season.

His later years were marred by a feeling the club was regressing, which was down to other factors, rather than just Wenger, notably Stan Kroenke's takeover and the expensive move from Highbury to the Emirates.

Eventually, it was decided he would leave the club at the end of the 2017/18, which saw the lowest league finish of his entire tenure, which remarkably was still just 6th.

Despite fan protests towards the end of his reign, that was all put aside to remember the near-unquantifiable impact the Frenchman had on the North London club.

Seven years on, his greatness has only become more appreciated.
