Ousmane Dembélé, the current holder of the Ballon d’Or, has said that he believes the award will once again be won by a Paris Saint-Germain player.

Dembélé won the award last September. It came after a season in which PSG won the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, and the Trophée des Champions, whilst also reaching the final of the FIFA Club World Cup. Last season, Les Parisiens retained their UCL crown and so, speaking to L’Équipe, Dembélé has revealed that he believes one of his teammates will win the award this time around.

“I think that the Ballon d’Or will stay in the hands of a PSG player,” he told L’Équipe. The France international then went on to give his top three candidates to win the award: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Harry Kane, and Kylian Mbappé. Dembélé said that he would not put himself in the top three. “Is that just because you’re humble?” he was asked. “Yeah, that’s it.” Asked specifically whether Lionel Messi is in the conversation, he said no, instead citing his initial top three, as well as Michael Olise, Lamine Yamal, Fabián Ruiz, and Willian Pacho.
