Ousmane Dembele snubs Barcelona star in Ballon d’Or picks | OneFootball

The 2026-27 season has only just started, but there are already several events in the near future that FC Barcelona fans will be eagerly looking forward to. For instance, the Catalan team is going to start its UEFA Champions League campaign tomorrow, on Tuesday.

A few more weeks down the road, there is going to be the Ballon d’Or ceremony, scheduled for 26 October. As was the case last year, several Blaugrana players would once again be in contention for the biggest individual award in European football this year, especially as Barcelona won La Liga and the Spanish Super Cup, while up to eight of their players also won the World Cup with Spain.

The youngster Lamine Yamal is the player in the Catalan team with the highest chances of winning this award, as he played a key role in the successes enjoyed by his club and national teams during the last year. However, there are players from other clubs having a very good case for the Ballon d’Or as well.

In anticipation of the ceremony, the current Ballon d’Or holder, Ousmane Dembele, was asked about his three favorites for the prize. As Mundo Deportivo has noted, the Frenchman snubbed the young Barcelona star, and named three other players:

“I don’t think there is any doubt about this trophy. I think it will go to a Paris Saint-Germain player. My three favourites? A bit mixed up: Kvara, Harry Kane, who had a fantastic season, and I think Kylian Mbappé. Me? Not at all! I never put myself in those situations. I never vote for myself. If I had to vote, I wouldn’t vote for myself.”

Although he did not name him in his three favorites, the PSG star still admitted that Yamal had an “incredible season”. For now, it remains to be seen who will win the Ballon d’Or this year, but Barcelona fans would certainly disagree with Ousmane Dembele in this regard.
