Oxford United relegated to League One

Oxford United have been relegated to League One before they kick off against Sheffield Wednesday.

The U's were always relying on help from elsewhere today and didn't get it. Charlton Athletic's 2-1 victory at home to Hull City was enough to consign the U's to relegation.

Oxford's relegation to the third tier now confirms the trio of current Championship clubs who will compete in League One next season with Sheffield Wednesday having been relegated for some time and Leicester City only recently having their third tier status confirmed.

The result means that today's 3pm kick-off against Sheffield Wednesday will be a preview of what's to come next season in League One.
