Oxford United have announced that they have sacked manager Matt Bloomfield following he club's relegation.

The U's originally appointed Bloomfield midway through the 2025/26 campaign in hopes of securing their survival in the Championship.

However, the club eventually returned to League One after finishing 22nd in the Championship, four points from safety.

"We would like to thank Matt for his efforts and wish him every success in the future," the club said in a statement.

"The process of appointing a new Men’s First Team Head Coach will begin immediately, and the Club will provide updates in due course."

Oxford United spent two seasons after being promoted through the play-offs in the 2023/24 season.
