Pablo Hernández has emerged as the standout new figure in Spain’s dugouts, steering CD Castellón into the automatic promotion places with bold, dynamic football and, crucially, results.
A ruthless 4-0 at Real Valladolid underlined it, a whirlwind of movement and goals from a side stamped with their manager’s identity.
Hernández took over in matchweek five with only two points and Castellón second-bottom. Since then they have climbed to the top of the Liga Hypermotion.
Across 20 matches under his watch, Castellón have won 13, drawn four and lost three, collecting 43 points from 60, with 36 scored and 15 conceded.
Their defensive base has hardened too, with five successive clean sheets yielding three wins and two draws.
“I have been fortunate to have very good coaches such as Emery, Laudrup and Paco Jémez, who gave me a lot, but with Bielsa it was during years in a phase of my career when I was more aware of things and analysed the game more. That helped me to improve and to learn many of the things I carry out today as a coach.” He told Periódico Mediterráneo.
