It has been a breakthrough campaign for Pablo Pagis (23), but it looks set to be his final season at formative club FC Lorient. Speaking on Thursday, the Frenchman announced a desire to take the next step in his career this summer.
Pagis has played 30 games in all competitions this season, scoring 10 goals in that time and registering three assists. As the end of the season approaches, he is already being linked with a move away from the Moustoir, with Lorient already guaranteed of their place in Ligue 1 for next season.
As per a report from Ouest-France, Olympique Lyonnais, Stade Rennais, RC Lens, and Paris FC are all interested in Les Merlus’ playmaker. Such a move would correspond with Pagis’ wishes, as he revealed on Thursday.
“I think that it is the right moment for me [to make the next step],” he began in an interview with Ouest-France and Le Télégramme. “There are ambitious clubs that are interested. It is flattering.” Pagis announced a desire to move to a Ligue 1 club, preferably. “In my young career, I have never taken too big a step in just one go. I don’t want to rush through the steps, but if there are foreign clubs playing at the top of their leagues that are interested, why not?”
The playmaker wants to play in Europe and, asked specifically about interest from Lens and Rennes, he said such a move would “certainly match”.
