Marseille enter a demanding week before hosting Nice on Sunday, with injuries and fatigue mounting. Igor Paixao is very doubtful, and there are concerns over Amine Gouiri and Quinten Timber.

There were no days off after Saturday’s 0-2 defeat at Lorient. According to L'Équipe, Monday featured gym work, double sessions are set for Tuesday and Wednesday, then a stay at La Commanderie from Thursday to Sunday.

The staff are managing several absences. Nayef Aguerd’s club season is very likely over due to a pubis issue. Geoffrey Kondogbia, CJ Egan-Riley and midfielder Tochukwu Nnadi, who has a knee problem, were not in the squad at Lorient.

Timber missed out with adductor discomfort, and the club intend to do everything to have him fit to start against Nice at 20:45, with the midfield short of his intensity. Mason Greenwood has still not regained full fitness after the dead leg suffered in the 1-2 defeat to Lille on 22 March.

Paixao was withdrawn at half-time on Saturday with a sore calf and is very uncertain for Sunday. Doubts also linger over Gouiri, who was replaced in Brittany in the 59th minute with muscular issues.

Timothy Weah began on the bench at Lorient due to fatigue after a heavy season, then came on for Paixao. He will be able to rest on one May at Nantes, where he is suspended, as is Benjamin Pavard.
