Crystal Palace defender Chris Richards is expected to make a swift recovery form the injury he sustained in the League Cup quarter-final against Arsenal last night.

He was carried off following a clash with Gabriel Jesus, but Palace manager has confirmed the injury is not severe.

Glasner said (via the Palace’s official website): “He got a knock on his foot, a stamp on his foot, and it had to be stitched.

“I don’t know how many stitches, but a few. The doctor told me it doesn’t look so bad. I’m always hopeful. We have to be hopeful.

“I don’t know if he will be okay for the Tottenham game, but I’m still hoping that he will be back against Fulham.”

Richards has been a crucial player this term, starting in all 17 of Palace’s Premier League games.

The 25-year-old United States international will be a massive miss for Palace. They will hope to have him back soon, and for good reason.

Palace only have Jaydee Canvot to call upon to replace Richards, with Chadi Riad stuck on the treatment table.

Maxence Lacroix is going through a rough spell, so Palace need Richards available.

Glasner may have considered dropping Lacroix if he had more options, but he will probably start the next fixture.

The club might decide to explore the transfer market for another defensive addition to bolster the rearguard this winter.
