In recent seasons, several Palmeiras academy graduates have fronted complaints about officiating in matches against the Verdão.

According to Nosso Palestra, the sequence began in 2025, when midfielder Jhon Jhon, then with Red Bull Bragantino, used his half-time interview at Nubank Parque to claim opponents were facing Palmeiras and the referee.

In 2026, Talisca, representing Jacuipense, was sent off after a challenge on Lucas Evangelista. He disputed the decision during the game, insisting it did not merit a red card.

The most recent flashpoint came on Wednesday 29, when Palmeiras beat Vitória 4-0 in the Campeonato Brasileiro. Vitória left-back Luan Cândido, also a club graduate, was dismissed late in the first half after making a robbery gesture towards the officials, moments after Cacá had been sent off for a heavy tackle on Jhon Arias.

The two red cards shaped the contest at the Barradão and eased Palmeiras’ route to victory. Post-match, head coach Abel Ferreira avoided controversy, saying a separate incident involving Mauricio was right on the borderline, while stressing he had no doubts about the Vitória dismissals.
