Palmeiras ask Conmebol for 10% of Maracanã in Libertadores semi-final | OneFootball

Palmeiras have asked Conmebol to reserve 10% of the Maracanã for their supporters in the Conmebol Libertadores semi-final against Fluminense.

According to Globo.com, they have sought exceptional authorisation from São Paulo’s Military Police to increase the visiting section at Nubank Parque to 4,000 for the return leg, arguing for reciprocity.

That figure reflects roughly 10% of Nubank Parque’s capacity, which would translate to a little over 6,000 seats for Palmeiras fans at the Maracanã on 14 October at 21:30 Brasília time.

Competition regulations require home clubs to make at least 4,000 away tickets available in the semi-finals, which Fluminense insisted on maintaining.

At Nubank Parque, an order from São Paulo’s Public Security Secretariat limits the away end to about 2,000. In recent semi-finals, clubs agreed to 2,000 visiting fans in both legs.

The clubs have already held initial talks, Palmeiras outlined the proposal, but Fluminense were adamant. The return leg is scheduled for 21 October at 21:30 Brasília time.
