More than half of Palmeiras’ remaining fixtures are at home, a run they hope will revive their league push and strengthen their cup bids.
According to Globo.com, the calendar could be an ally in the run-in. Palmeiras are the fourth-best hosts, with 30 points from 39, a 77% return, after leading the first round on 85%.
Bahia on 8 and Corinthians on 11 both visit Nubank Parque. In the away-form table Palmeiras are second, Bahia third and Corinthians 12th.
Two wins after the FIFA break would keep them in the title race and lift belief for the Libertadores semi-final first leg at Fluminense on 14, then Athletico-PR away. The return against Fluminense and Bragantino at Arena Barueri follow.
Arena Barueri has been kind, unbeaten this year with nine wins and two draws in 11.
The sequence also features Santos away, home games against Vasco in the Copa do Brasil semi-final first leg and Remo in the league, then the Vasco return and a trip to Cruzeiro in Minas Gerais. Back in São Paulo they host Flamengo in a potentially decisive head-to-head, the sides three points apart. The league ends at Chapecoense, the worst home side on 11 points, then Coritiba at home, whose away record is 48%. The calendar could yet add the Libertadores and Copa do Brasil finals at neutral venues, Estádio Centenário in Uruguay and Mané Garrincha in Brasília.
