The first 2026 transfer window closes on Tuesday, and Palmeiras will finish with two additions, Marlon Freitas and Jhon Arias.
According to Globo.com, the club are already working on mid-year business, targeting Zenit centre-back Nino. Zenit have not accepted their offer, and talks continue about signing him now and receiving him at the end of the Russian season.
There will be no further arrivals this window, including via the separate registration period for State Championship players, which runs from 4 to 27 March.
Palmeiras have invested R$ 188 million in 2026 so far, paying R$ 33 million for Marlon Freitas from Botafogo and R$ 155 million for Arias from Wolverhampton in England. The attacking midfielder becomes the club’s second biggest transfer.
The first-team squad now numbers 27, supplemented by academy players such as midfielder Luis Pacheco. During the Paulista, attacking midfielder Erick Belé and forward Riquelme Fillipi featured before returning to the under-20s.
Club staff believe there are still gaps to fill, which can be addressed in the next window. Alongside centre-back, they want a more defensive midfielder, with Danilo the preferred option, but Botafogo indicated they do not wish to sell now.
Palmeiras are Paulista finalists against Novorizontino over two legs. The first leg is on Wednesday at 20:00, Brasília time, at Arena Crefisa Barueri, with the return on Sunday at 20:30 at the Jorge Ismael de Biasi stadium.
