Palmeiras are working to meet Botafogo’s demands for Danilo and plan to send a fresh offer this week. They have targeted the Cria da Academia since the start of the season.

According to Nosso Palestra, Botafogo have indicated in talks that they want the midfielder available against Cruzeiro on Sunday 26 in the Campeonato Brasileiro.

Danilo is due back on Monday 20 after time off following the World Cup, will undergo tests and train through the week.

If he plays against Cruzeiro he would reach 13 league games, which would rule out a transfer to Palmeiras, so negotiations need to accelerate in the coming days.

Should there be no breakthrough this week, Botafogo intend to keep using him in the league and to await offers from Europe until the window closes.

Palmeiras’ salary proposal is understood to be higher than Zenit of Russia’s, with a five-season deal on the table. With bonuses and a signing-on fee, the package appeals to Danilo and his representatives, although final figures still require minor tweaks and no definitive agreement is in place.
