Palmeiras resumed on-pitch work at the Academia de Futebol on Thursday 25 after a World Cup break. The squad had reported the day before for medical tests.

According to Nosso Palestra, the club are finalising details for their first training match of this period. The game is expected to take place on Saturday 4 at the training ground against Primavera de Indaiatuba.

Primavera, who played this year’s Campeonato Paulista, are coached by Rafael Marques. The forward represented Palmeiras from 2015 to 2017.

Plans were in place for Agustín Giay, Joaquin Piquerez and Emiliano Martínez to return at the end of the week for tests and the start of training.

Giay, although not called up for the World Cup, travelled with Argentina’s delegation in the United States for activities at AFA’s request with the club’s agreement. The full-back is expected at the Academia de Futebol in the coming days.

Piquerez and Emiliano Martínez did not feature for Uruguay in their three matches at the tournament. Both will have a few days off and are scheduled to rejoin the squad at the end of this week.
