Vandals daubed the walls of Palmeiras’ social headquarters and the Allianz Parque ticket offices after the 4-0 defeat to Novorizontino in the Campeonato Paulista on Tuesday.

Globo.com reports that the messages targeted head coach Abel Ferreira, president Leila Pereira and the squad. A note to the coach contained a misspelling of acabou as acobou and asked if the magic was over, while others questioned planning, called the team shameful, referenced 2025 and used SPAlmeiras.

The graffiti artists were identified and arrested shortly afterwards. The club is in contact with the Civil Police to identify them and seek legal accountability, and the walls have already been repainted.

The night had been set up as a milestone, marking the 400th match for Abel and his staff. Their record stands at 232 wins, 93 draws and 75 defeats.

The result ended Palmeiras’ perfect start to this Paulista campaign, after three wins from three.

It was the club’s heaviest margin of defeat in almost 11 years, the last by four goals coming in a 5-1 loss to Chapecoense on 4 October 2015.
