Palmeiras have joined Flamengo in monitoring Zenit forward Luiz Henrique. According to Coluna Do Fla, Flamengo are tracking the Brazil international and Palmeiras are also weighing up a move.
Despite rating their current squad, Flamengo remain active in the market. In Russia, Luiz Henrique is in strong form and all but certain of a Brazil call-up under Carlo Ancelotti.
Any deal would be difficult, with Zenit seeking about 40 million euros, R$ 240 million, and the player potentially leaving after the World Cup.
Operating mainly from the right, he would be a strong contender to start at Flamengo, although Paquetá, Luiz Araújo and Carrascal are also in the frame.
He is viewed as the likely replacement for Gonzalo Plata, whose controversies and poor training have seen the staff abandon him. Flamengo plan to sell Plata after the World Cup as he has shown no sign of meeting the new guidelines.
Luiz Henrique joined Zenit in 2025. He came through Fluminense, played for their first team from 2020 to 2022 before moving to Betis, then starred for Botafogo in 2024, as they won the Brasileirão and Libertadores, scoring in the continental final. The 25-year-old is under contract until 2028, and could gain further value after the World Cup.
