Palmeiras have grown less confident of signing 29-year-old centre-back Nino from Zenit after recent talks, though the board will make a final attempt to strike a deal. The defender, formerly of Fluminense, has been pursued since late 2025.
According to Nosso Palestra, Palmeiras are working within a €10 million to €12 million valuation, roughly R$59 million to R$70 million, and do not intend to go beyond it.
There is a preliminary understanding with the player on personal terms, with a four-year contract proposal signalled on 17 January.
Last week the club announced Argentine defender Alexander Barboza from Botafogo. The centre-back pool features Gustavo Gómez, Murilo, Bruno Fuchs, Benedetti and Kone as cover, while Barboza can only play after the World Cup.
If Nino does not arrive, Palmeiras expect to retain all players in that position during this window and consider departures only at the end of the season.
