Palmeiras’ Libertadores rival thanks Corinthians for training ground

This Thursday, the 30th, the second leg of the Copa Libertadores semifinal will take place. The match is between Palmeiras and LDU, the team from Quito-ECU, which held its last training session before the decisive game at Corinthians’ facilities and expressed their gratitude on social media for being allowed to use the space.

“Ready for the last training session on Brazilian soil! Thank you, Corinthians, for letting us use your space this afternoon“, wrote the club. Since Dorival Júnior’s squad trained in the morning, the Dr. Joaquim Grava Training Center was available in the afternoon for LDU to use.

In the first leg, which took place in Quito, the match ended 3-0 for LDU. Therefore, even a loss by up to two goals will still be enough for the Ecuadorian team to qualify for the grand final, where Flamengo is already waiting—after eliminating Racing-ARG in the other semifinal.

It’s worth mentioning that LDU’s coach is Tiago Nunes, who managed Corinthians in 2020 after a successful stint with Athletico-PR. He reached a Paulistão final, losing precisely to Palmeiras, but was dismissed during the Brasileirão due to a poor campaign.

The second leg will be held at Allianz Parque, Palmeiras’ home ground, starting at 9:30 PM (Brasília time).
