Palmeiras have advanced negotiations over a new contract for centre-back Murilo running to the end of 2029. According to Nosso Palestra, both parties expect the deal to be sealed in the coming weeks.
Leaders of the Campeonato Brasileiro and already into the next phases of the Copa do Brasil and Conmebol Libertadores, the club now enter a Copa do Mundo pause while working on off-field decisions.
Murilo has captained the side in several matches this season when Gustavo Gómez was absent. The club hierarchy did not want discussions to take place in his final contractual year.
At the club since 2022, Murilo has formed a decorated, title-winning partnership with Gustavo Gómez. Wearing the number 26, he has made 229 appearances and is the club’s fourth-highest scoring centre-back with 23 goals.
In defence, the squad currently includes Murilo, Gustavo Gómez, Bruno Fuchs, Benedetti and the recently signed Alexander Barboza.
