Palmeiras midfielder banned by STJD after red card vs Fluminense

The midfielder Allan, from Palmeiras, was reported by the Prosecution Office of the Superior Court of Sports Justice (STJD) for his sending off against Fluminense, in the 2-1 victory on July 23.

The trial took place this Thursday, October 23. He was charged under Art. 250:

Trial Result

The midfielder Allan was suspended for two matches, having already served one through automatic suspension. As a result, the youngster is out of the match against Cruzeiro next Sunday (26).

Match Report: Striking or attempting to strike an opponent with excessive force outside of a play for the ball – For hitting the opponent’s head with his elbow, using excessive force, outside of a play for the ball. I inform that the affected player, no. 02, Mr. Samuel Xavier Brito, did not require medical attention and continued normally in the match.

At 49 minutes of the second half, Allan initially received a yellow card after committing a foul on Samuel Xavier. However, the video referee team intervened, requesting a review of the incident for possible use of excessive force. Thus, after consulting the monitor, referee Ramon Abatti Abel reviewed his decision and issued a straight red card to the Palmeiras player.

“He makes an additional movement, as he passes he leaves his elbow. Abatti, Gilberto speaking. I suggest a review for a possible red card. After the Fluminense player kicks the ball, the player (Allan) comes through at speed, makes an additional movement and hits his opponent’s head with his elbow.”

During the review on the monitor at the side of the field, the field referee confirms the change of decision.

“Use of excessive force, can you show me at normal speed. Ok, elbow… I’ll take away the yellow card and give the red, ok?” says Abatti Abel. “Ok, I agree,” replies Gilberto.
