Palmeiras out to end losing run in Quito against LDU and reach Libertadores semis | OneFootball

Palmeiras visit LDU in Quito on Wednesday 16 at 19:00 Brasília time, the Libertadores quarter-final second leg at Estádio Rodrigo Paz Delgado. Abel Ferreira’s side hold a 1-0 lead from the first game and require only a draw to reach the semi-finals.

According to Nosso Palestra, the challenge is not just the altitude in Quito. Palmeiras have lost both previous Libertadores matches in the city, 3-2 in 2009 and 3-0 in 2025. On each occasion they conceded three times away from home.

This time the margin could already have been bigger, with Palmeiras recording 22 attempts in the first leg at Nubank Parque but missing chances to extend their lead. They must now manage the result at roughly 2,850 metres above sea level.

Abel Ferreira will be without Gustavo Gómez, suspended after a third booking, while Andreas Pereira returns from a ban.
