Palmeiras were held to a draw by Mirassol in the 25th round of the Brasileirão, with Mauricio netting the equaliser. Arthur was dismissed in stoppage time after two bookings for fouls on Carlos Eduardo.
According to Globo.com, it was a below-par collective display. Palmeiras had more of the ball and created the clearer chances, yet the result was not judged unfair, and Flamengo have cut the gap in the table amid a draining run of fixtures.
Mirassol struck first when Eduardo headed in an Igor Formiga cross, with Murilo caught out of position and space conceded down Palmeiras' right.
Giay's delivery sparked the move for the leveller, Gustavo Gómez nodded across goal and Mauricio finished from close range. Gómez almost found a winner in added time.
Carlos Miguel was not at fault for the opener, then briefly erred when a shot squeezed through his legs on a play ruled offside. He later denied Gustavo Mosquito in a one-on-one to prevent a second.
Andreas Pereira carried set-piece threat and kept the ball moving without shining. Marlon Freitas headed a fine chance wide after the break, and Felipe Anderson was quiet before being withdrawn in the first wave of changes.
Vitor Roque battled but lacked end product and made way as the changes arrived. Flaco López worked hard, registering three attempts with one on target. Khellven added thrust on the right and finished at left back, while Lucas Evangelista was tidy and Heittor saw little of the ball in a brief cameo.
